MAINE
What do Freeport, Monhegan, Port Clyde,
Rockland, Belfast, Blue Hill, Brookin, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Southwest
Harbor, Trenton, and Townhill all have in common? Yes, I know,
they are all towns in Maine. Yes, they are all along the coast
of Maine. Yes, they are all places I visited or drove through on
my vacation to Maine. So, what else do they all have in common?
Answer: they are all places where I BOUGHT
something during my trip. Yikes! And I thought I wouldn't spend
any money at all on this trip! On the other hand, along with my
friends Barbara and Elaine, I got to hike around Monhegan Island,
visit a lot of art galleries, quaint shops and stores, climb a
mountain, sit on the rocks and contemplate the ocean, go to the
movies, and even relax a little.
Needless to say, I had a wonderful time
and am hoping to get back in October with George. (The fall colors
are supposed to be spectacular.)
So, what did I buy in Maine?
Vintage clothes at The Big Chicken Barn
just outside of Ellsworth. A t-shirt for George on Monhegan Island
and in Blue Hill, jewelry in Brooklin, cool vintage buttons in
Belfast, lunch in Southwest Harbor, and an ice cream cone in Trenton.
Oh, and, by the way (while y'all were steaming
in the heat down here), we didn't have to use air conditioning
at ALL even though it was quite warm during most of the days.
I LOVE MAINE.
