Celestial Indications for JUNE 2004

This year an unusual astronomical and astrological phenomenon is occurring for the first time since December 1882. On the 8th of June, Venus will transit across the face of the Sun. The Occultation of Venus, as it is called is, according to astrologer Philip Sedgwick ‘The Return of the Matriarch.’ A Venus transit is indicative of a greater inflow of ‘yin’ or ‘goddess’ energy, since Venus is the primary symbol of the feminine. The astrological factors surrounding the Occultation of Venus point to large shifts in both the collective consciousness as well as on a more personal level.

A transit of Venus is likely to be an event that causes the human race to come to terms with its deep-down value systems and what we want, both as individuals and collectively.

During the Occultation of Venus we are invited to ask ourselves ‘How do we seek harmony and accord and what compromises are we willing to make in order for good will to flourish?’

Aries
March 21 - April 19

You are a vital sign ruled by adrenaline Pooh-Bah Mars. A warrior can’t afford delay or subtlety when the stakes are high. However, it is important not to get caught up in doing what the rest of the world does and react predictably i.e. badly, when, from your perspective, things go wrong.

Throughout June your life is like ‘East Enders!’ The theme of your planetary drama continues to be your relationships with neighbors and siblings. A situation that arose in February will emerge as one of life’s lessons around June 10th.

Hidden agendas, image problems… you may have to fight fire with fire and embark on a public relations campaign in order to put the record straight. Either that, or refrain from entering the fray entirely. Disengage. Turn the problem over to the Cosmos. God never does the same thing twice. Let Him resolve things and trust that whatever is right will prevail.

Taurus
April 20 - May 20

Relationships and finance are on the front burner all month. Pluto, Venus and the Sun are a potent mix and reach a peak of tension around the 10th. Take care that your diet is alkaline, since stress creates an acidic condition in the body. Eat your broccoli.

Ruling planet Venus is retrograde until the 29th. You will find yourself revisiting, re-evaluating and revising the situation and asking yourself what value you place on yourself versus others. The chances are you have undervalued yourself. You may have been indulging another person’s selfish, demanding ways. By doing this you have cultivated the tyrant in him, thereby diminishing your self-esteem and undermining your dignity. Stop playing lifeguard to those who swim near the sharks. You are embarking on a healing journey of a different nature and dimension.

Since you are ‘under new management’ the New Moon on the 17th will present you with a new menu. Treat yourself and order the special.

Gemini
May 21 - June 20

You expect life to provide you with a kaleidoscope of diverse experiences. Your imperative is to satisfy your curiosity and your gift is the pleasure you receive in discovery. Always challenging, expanding, and stretching, you are the personification of Gemini cities like Melbourne and San Francisco. This month your bohemian unpredictability is strutting its stuff down your solar ramp. Enjoy the
limelight, but do watch your step in those Manolo Blahniks.

On the 3rd not only does Venus oppose Pluto, but it trines Chiron on the same day that there is a Full Moon in Sagittarius. Use your silver-tongue to address and heal control issues that have been festering in your mental basement.

Around the 12th Mercury conjuncts Venus and presents you with a window to tell others exactly what you want and how you intend to achieve it. Un petit caveat - its time to curb your spending sprees and become more realistic with financial matters.

June 21 - July 22)

Until the 21st, solar focus, along with Venus, is in your secret closet, the hidden side of your psyche.

Venus symbolizes not only the energy of love, but also the energy of desire. While the energy of love is the primordial feminine or ‘yin’ quality, the energy of desire falls under the portfolio of Mars, beast-master of the primordially masculine or ‘yang’ quality. The Occultation of Venus commencing on the eighth could provide master classes in learning about what your true values are – the key to knowing who you are – and how you go about getting it.

Mars has been champing at the bit in your personal paddock for the whole month. Now is the time to saddle up and ride! You have the courage and will to explore those unexpressed (or unexplored) desires to the world. How these desires express in your life choices and morality, may surprise even Simon Cowell/Sponge Bob Square Pants.

July 23 - Aug 22

In the last 500 years or so transits of Venus have occurred with such significant events as the Reformation in Western Europe and its subsequent political and cultural earthquake and the ushering in of an age of queens from whence the Elizabethan Age. Subsequent transits of Venus accompanied the Renaissance – literally, a rebirth of art, architecture, music, painting, and literature.

Your ruling planet, the Sun, conjuncts with Venus on the 8th, just as the celestial transit of the matriarch commences. How will you usher in this surge of energy and how will its import be manifest in your life? Venus rules money as well as love. Collective trends are built on the effort of individuals. What sort of world do you want to see coming into being? This is the time to start that Outreach Group, expose corruption and use your regal status for the benefit of all.

You are deeply enmeshed in a process that will transform your private life, home and family. Uranus is up to its tricks and there will be dramatic changes the state of a marriage or partnership, whether it is personal or business. On the other five fingers, you could fall in love suddenly, but a cautionary word is in order here. A person who enters your life under this transit may not stay.

Your ruling planet Mercury is like a ball bearing on a bathroom floor. Where will you land next? Use your legendary social skills to open doors that may resolve the
quandaries of the past few months. On the 15th when Mars opposes your co-ruler Chiron, the Universe is reminding yourself that revenge is a two-edged sword; it cuts both outward and inward.

Only if you are willing to give up your suffering (and the accusations and anger which go with it) will you heal.

Sept 23 - Oct 22

The Sun in your zone of higher education and spirituality spotlights Venus/Pluto doing a push-me-pull-you on the 3rd.

Your mind muscles will be pumped up and you will be compelled to investigate and sleuth. Was the Mormon Church really founded after Joseph Smith saw an angel? Could it have been a winged serpent? When you’re seeking, it is wise to remember that only when science stops metaphysics awakens and religions unfold.

On the 8th, like a planetary Helen Reddy, Venus strikes up with the Sun. Start belting out ‘I am woman hear me roar! Da da da da duh dee deee…” When Mercury chimes in on the 12th, you will be able to explain why the package you are offering the world is so unique. Around the 19th you may feel a tad frustrated as you feel others are preventing you from goals, but after the 21st you could use your newfound knowledge with great impact on the collective.

Oct 23 - Nov 21

This is an intense period. A high-stakes drama is being played out in your personal underworld, with your sun in your 8th house – the realm of contracts. Experiences of deep merger and joining require individuals to die to their separate selves and be reborn into a more complex, integrated state. Think Braveheart! Psychological, sexual or financial transformation will lead to renewal.

The placement of your ruling planet Pluto indicates that you are being asked to draw on all your psychological resources. That which you love most dearly will be put under an unforgiving microscope. Indeed, how you love or indeed what you love will preoccupy your thoughts until the 21st. Neither wisdom nor love is ever wasted. Even our terrible sufferings are not wasted, for they go through the alchemical transmutation of pain into wisdom, leaving traces behind in the Collective Unconscious that may help others. Relinquish control and allow the goddess-energy to do what she will.

Nov 22 - Dec 21

You may find your home life unexpectedly changed. Uranus is in the fourth house, heralding a new circumstance in your home environment. If harmony is to prevail it is best to remember what Heraclitus said more than 2000 years ago. “With our eyes open we share the same world; with our eyes shut each of us enters his own world.”

You will be acutely aware of the the wonder and mystery of life as it was spelled out for us in kindergarten: “Nor you, nor I, nor anyone knows how oats, peas, beans or barley grows!” Indications are that you are set to expand your mind-set and change your world’s view forever. You could make a career out of your inquiring mind. What is the significance of Pluto stationed in your house of self? Why, the heavens arc and sweep in dependable beauty and majesty and you fret about not being able to unscrew the lid of a honey jar. Think about yourself in relation to the big picture.

Dec 22 - Jan 19

Uranus and Pluto will precipitate a crisis of some kind around the 10th. Hopefully you will have an ‘Aha’ moment that will relieve a long-standing impasse with siblings.
You may be on a quest to explore the depth of your subconscious and find answers to your inner motivations. You may even develop a need to start campaigning for the rights of the Himalayan Mountain Goats – or Unmarried Lesbian Mothers.

Your conscience is in crisis mode. Full Moon on the 3rd in your 12th house is a significant time. This is a good time to go into analysis – not to heal neuroses, but to ensure your on-going spiritual growth. The process of analysis is “maieutic” in that the therapist serves as ‘midwife’ to the transformed or reborn ego. Physically you have been worn down like a pumice stone. After the 21st you can – and indeed must - assume mastership over your health and dietary regime.

Jan 20 - Feb 18

Astrology provides a map or a picture, if you will, to an invisible world. It can describe for us not so much what our experiences are, but how we tend to process those experiences.

This month the planets indicate that while you are unusually charismatic, your personal identity seems to elude and confuse you. Others may tease you about being a “space cadet, “ because your approach to life is not as clearly defined as it was before. February 19 – March 20

In order for you to grow and blossom, Mr/Mrs Fish, there must be continuity in your environment, personal relationships and social contacts. You, of all signs, need security the way…well, the way a fish needs water. This month you feel somewhat flighty and…ungrounded? You may even be accident-prone. Don’t attempt to multi-task and, Heaven’s to Betsy, be sure and put off taking that course in paragliding!

Solar focus is beamed on your 4th house which pertains to all that is the very foundation of your being - home, hearth and heart. But Uranus is stirring the pot. From around the 2nd to the 11th there is a metaphorical boxing match going on in your personal ring. The contenders: Home vs. Work. Sense of Self-vs. Significant Other.

As astrology seeks to balance, reflect and connect our humdrum down-to-earth daily life with the loftiest and most universal concepts, so must you. Seek the help of the feminine energies and find a graceful win-win solution to the pressures that are being brought to bear.
