Indications
for MARCH 2004
by
Jani Allan
Aries
March 21 - April 19
This
month both solar focus and gabby-mouthed
Mercury are positioned to unleash something from your
private vault. Since the quality of your
fire sign energy is cardinal, an up rushing, active
fire and vital force, skeletons could literally
jet out of the closets. Or you may choose
to reveal something startling about yourself that
is sure to have the neighbors’ lace-curtains
twitching.
With
Mars in your second house, chances are that
you could find yourself in a Martha Stewart
situation. Or even more dire, you may be caught
by the usherette at the Royal Cinema complex
while sneaking into a second movie without
paying.
Archetypally
you are the Mortal Hero; whereas other signs
could be mortified by personal revelations,
you see them as a perfect opportunity to live
your motto: “I am.”
Consider
using the New Moon on the 20th to commence
an (extreme) personal makeover.

Taurus
April 20 - May 20
With Mars and Venus in your first house for most of the month you could find
yourself, as the Cockneys would say, in some Barney. (Barney Rubble = trouble).
The
trouble is that a Mars truly doesn’t
give a fig what anyone else thinks, while Venus,
on the other hand, feeds off the love and approval
of others for a sense of self-worth. (Aphrodite
could not possibly survive without a crowd
of adoring youths at her feet.) Few people
realize that beneath your bombastic exterior
beats a petal-soft heart with a tremendous
secret dependency on the love of others for
a sense of self-worth.
Still,
you have the fighting power to joust with dragons
in order to enrich and beautify your life.
Around
the 19th, you may have to face the choice of
finding that fine line between being giving
and understanding to the one you adore or allowing
yourself to be treated as though you had “Welcome” written
on the back of your coir pullover.

Gemini
May 21 - June 20
Until
the 20th you will be taking care of business
and burnishing your legend. Your career may
take leaps and bounds and for the first time
you can set long-term goals. Mercury, the chatterbox
communicator, is inclined to matters of business
and commerce and you will be talking like a
recently released Trappist monk.
On
the 15th Mercury squares Saturn and you will
find that instead of being a mere accumulator
of other people’s values, facts and opinions,
you are gradually processing information and
building your own belief system.
Do remember to catch your breath! Since Mercury rules the lungs, the connection
between breath (spiritus) and consciousness is obvious. Too much oxygen leads
to hyperventilation. You may decide to join a yoga class in order to learn
pranayama, a complex and highly scientific method of breathing which enables
one to reach higher levels of consciousness.
After
the 21st you will have enough self-confidence
and the energy to build a couple of pyramids.

Cancer
June 21 - July 22)
You
have a longing to explore the far pavilions.
Should you pack your polka-dotted scarf and
set off down a less traveled road? You yearn
to live according to your life’s higher
philosophies.
But
Stick-in-the-mud Saturn is still retrograde
in your first house. You feel as though you
are being toyed with by Miss Fate – and
a rather unpleasant Miss Fate, it seems, too.
Life,
it seems, is as exciting as being in a boarding
house on a wet November Sunday in Llandudno
with the only telephone kiosk broken.
Fail
to fret. Saturn represents the way you program
your universe at the deepest, most fundamental
level. Perhaps the ‘losses’ that
you perceive are things that you don’t
really want or need.
New
Moon on the 20th will flood you with the immense
possibilities of life. Ideas, plans, expectations,
new chapters, preparation of the ground are
the keynotes. Reclaim yourself and release
your addictive attachment to fear of the unknown.
Make
that transition into a new story line. Or give
a quirk to an existing tale.

Leo
July 23 - Aug 22
Solar focus is on the eighth house – the house that Freud built – and
Jung moved into. This is the house that governs our attitudes towards sexuality
(eros) and death (thanatos)
From
around the 4th when the Sun, your ruling sign,
opposes Jupiter, your ability to deal with
the uncut, uncensored (and possibly untalented)
facts of your life will be tested. What, a
Leo that is untalented? I hear you gasp. Perhaps.
But only if you look really hard. If you have
the bottle to do this, you will find yourself
in a place of confrontation with your unconscious
and all its guilts and shames.
You
are undergoing an intense session of psychic
therapy - not something gilt-edged, 24-carat
showoff Leo likes to do.
Remember
that consciousness of shame and the reason
for it can open the golden doors to redemption.
The
loveliest lilies grow in mud.

Virgo
Aug 23 - Sept 22
Scientists
have instruments delicate enough to measure
the tide in a cup of tea. It is ridiculous
to assume that the water in human bodies is
less sensitive to such a pull. Even for steel-spined
Virgos.
The
full moon on the 6th is in your first house
and solar focus is on relationships for most
of the month. Full moon is the prime time for
spiritual/psychological breakthrough and growth.
This is a time of potential revelation and
truth. (It is said that Sakyamuni Buddha attained
enlightenment on the full moon). Chiron, the
wounded healer, is in your creative zone the
whole month inviting you to think of new ways
of thinking and being.
Early
in the month when cheeky Mercury opposes Jupiter
(retrograde the whole month), you wonder if
the promise of expansion will ever become a
reality. While waiting for your number at the
deli counter of life, you are, despite everything,
developing a more philosophical approach.

Libra
Sept 23 - Oct 22
It
strikes you just as you are struggling to unload
the washing machine (its funny how the sheets
get so twisted, isn’t it? Like huge sopping
wet pretzels); whatever happened to Auntie
Muriel’s sherry glasses? And that silver
samovar! Didn’t she promise them to you?
You feel as though your life is a Vermeer painting.
All chores and the mundane minutiae of daily
life that diminish the soul – without
the dramatic lighting.
You
will be doing a great deal of inner bookkeeping.
Tit-for-tatting, awarding of Brownie points
and a tendency to be dissatisfied by over-comparing
your contribution with that of others. Don’t
let minor miseries clutter your mental mantelpiece.
Your
ruling planet Venus is in the house of relationship
until the 5th. Love could take on a sheen that
you didn’t expect. Mercury darting into
the Hello Darling zone around the 12th could
produce a flurry of billets doux (love letters).
Solutions to a difficult relationship could
present themselves.

Scorpio
Oct 23 - Nov 21
The
Sun is shining very brightly indeed, since
it is in the fifth house – its natural
home.
What a fabulous month! Romance, love affairs, fun and amusement. All the ingredients
of a good political campaign.
Your
ambitions will be high. You will find yourself
seeking center stage to show off the ingenuity
and creativity of your latest project.
You
are in the mood to take emotional and physical
risks, whether blindly or by calculation. You
have an inherent taste for – need, even – for
danger (sometimes to life and limb), which
is achieved through hazardous sports or gambling
in the widest sense of the word.
With
Mars in your seventh house much energy will
be directed into partnerships. You may decide
to aggressively pursue a new relationship.
It is wise to remember the 7th is the house
of projection; what we admire in someone are
really our own positive values.
Your ruling planet Pluto is in your second house causing you to investigate
your ability to generate resources.
There
is an excellent potential for a new business
venture, perhaps building up your own empire
from scratch, or simply making a lot of money.

Sagittarius
Nov 22 - Dec 21
Solar
focus is on your home until the 20th. The vitality
and self-expression of the Sun will find a
positive outlet in the creation of a good home
and a happy family life. Familiar surroundings
instill a sense of security. You will be as
happy as a baby beaver in a toothpick factory,
just pottering around the house, reorganizing
your sock drawer and planting those spring
bulbs.
So
stay at home. Why, even watching Dr Phil on
the telly is a form of no-carb nourishment.
The Full Moon in your tenth house on the 6th
will have you musing about
what success really is.
Whatever
your chosen field, you attract attention. Your
flair and sense of the dramatic seems to be
on hold this month (Jupiter is retrograde in
the 10th house). Spend the month consolidating
your real strengths – the ability to
view the long term philosophically and practically.
Your aspirations are high and as they are conquered,
worldly wisdom grows.

Capricorn
Dec 22 - Jan 19
Your
tendency to show off and take assertive action – often
prematurely – is a cover-up for inner
fears of inadequacy. Chiron is in your first
house, inviting you to see what part of your
psyche needs nursing. Only by healing yourself
can you heal others.
Possibly
there were restrictions placed on you in early
childhood. When emotions are blocked they will
break through with a torrential force. You
have great charisma and potential for leadership,
but you may be spending too much time using
nervous energy to influence others. Controlling
these enormous resources and giving them free
but positive direction is essential.
Since solar focus is on your immediate environment, start by modifying your
day to day thinking and your interactions with relatives and neighbors.
Saturn in your relationship zone indicates that there is a heaviness in your
relationships. It’s time to realize that while single people grumble
at being single, the responsibility of a partnership is an even greater burden.
Are you ready to step up to the plate?

Aquarius
Jan 20 - Feb 18
The
theme of your tapestry remains resources. Both
solar focus and your ruling planet Uranus are
pointing at the house of possessions. Is this
going to be the theme of your life? At times
you feel as though you can’t even get
the two ends together to introduce them, let
alone meet.
You
are acutely aware of lack and feel an urgent
need to accumulate and consolidate. This is
a time of planning, working to plan, and seemingly
endless discussions and negotiating of agreements.
At times you may feel tinges of boredom and
impatience with the status quo. There is scope
here for an argument with life. Perseverance
is called for.
There
is a spark of promise and you have quite rightly
scented hope in the air.
Around the 19th Venus (the vamp on the chaise lounge nibbling chocolate truffles),
squares up with the cosmic awakener Neptune reminding you that it’s time
for a reality check.
Your
life is in your own hands. Best you keep a
firm grip on it.

Pisces
Feb 19 - Mar 2
Pisceans
are notoriously humanitarian and Christian
associations with the fish are many. Since
Early Christian times, the “logo” of
Jesus Christ is two curves of the fish. The
disciples were said to be ‘fishers of
men’; the Bishop’s miter (hat)
is in the shape of a fish head; even the word ‘Episcopal’ has
a fish hidden in it.
But
this month, Saintly One, the flame of your
characteristic compassion and love for humanity
can safely be turned down to a simmer. Solar
focus encourages you to steam ahead and concentrate
on your sweet self, rather than concern for
the hapless Haitians and who knows who else.
On
the 4th when Mercury conjuncts with the Sun,
you have a unique chance to translate your
impossible idealism into innovative plans.
Your non-linear mental agility will have people
cheering from the curb. The rewards of trail
blazing manifest in heaps of self-esteem and
a happy bank balance.
