ACTIVITIES
Board A Real Steamboat
At the End of the Road behind the Inn at Lambertville
Station
Located at the boat launch ramp. Weather permitting,
take an actual ride on the river.
Watch the Shad Hauling on Lewis Island
On the bank of the Delaware, right off Lambert Lane
Join the fishermen on Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm as
they show Shad Festival visitors the seine technique
(using large nets), originally taught to early settlers
by the Native Americans. Many thanks to the Lewis family
for continuing to do these wonderful demonstrations!
Canoe Building Demonstration
At the DesChamps Gallery, located at 7 Lambert Lane.
Both festival days, 12-5 each day. Join in the fun
building and painting an elegant little solo-type canoe.
Originally popularized in the mid-1800s, we will be
working on a similar version updated with glued-lapstrake
plywood construction. These small lightweight canoes
are enjoying a re-discovery or quiet revival today.
Besides their place in paddling history, they served
as subject material for Monet, Renoir and the well-known
western artists, Frederick Remington. Still today,
the graceful lines of a well-designed traditional boat
or canoe will captivate the imagination of artists
like Andrew Wyeth and Thomas Aquinas Daly. Stop by
and see why!
Carriage Rides
By the Lambertville Station Restaurant, Bridge St.
Bucks County Carriages will take you back to another
era! Enjoy Lambertville in the fashion of a Victorian
lady or gentleman as you take a twenty-minute guided
tour of the historic city in a horse-drawn carriage.

Walking Tours
Starting from The Marshall House, 62 Bridge St.
Both festival days, 1 and 3 pm. The 1816 house, now
a museum, was the home of James Marshall, who headed
America’s Gold Rush. Sign up for the hour-long
tour and be guided around Lambertville by a member
of the Lambertville Historical Society.
Learn How To Keep the Delaware Clean
On Lewis Island, off Lambert Lane
The Delaware River Basin Commission will show you how
to analyze water quality and they’ll show you
how you can do this at home.
