New
Hope Music and Arts Festival
by Marilyn Bullock
The
Triumph Brewing Company is hosting a new music
venue for New Hope and the community. They are
calling
it the New Hope Music and Arts Festival and monies
raised will benefit several local non-profit organizations.
The series of three events takes place on August 21,
September 18, and October 17, 2004, at the Eagle Fire
Hall, 49 N. Sugan Rd. New Hope from 1-5 PM. Event sponsors
are Triumph Brewing Company, Comcast Spotlight, The
Guitar Center, and The Mix 95.7 FM radio station, which
will be broadcasting live during each event. Broadcast
Emcee Kim Douglas will host.
Four
different bands will perform during each event. Three
of the bands will perform for 20 - 25 minutes
and a headliner band will perform for 70 minutes. The
events will provide great exposure to up-and-coming
bands. A rep from A&R Records and the program director
from 95.7 will both be present for each performance,
possibly offering one or more bands a CD recording
contract.
In addition to the musical entertainment, twenty arts
and fine crafts booths will be set up in the Fire Hall.
Artists from the New Hope and surrounding area will
entice the public with their wares (perhaps a little
pre-Christmas shopping?)
Oh,
and did we forget to mention there will be food?
Yes, local restaurants will sell their food and,
of
course, Triumph will provide the beer. Participating
businesses include Gerenser’s Ice Cream and Phildelphia
Pretzel. The Fire house will offer hamburgers and hot
dogs.
“The main goal of these events is for community
members and visitors to have FUN! We want to bring
together a group of musicians, artists, and businesses
that reflect the diversity that IS New Hope,” offers
Triumph managing partner, JD Coleates, “We hope
to raise money for the service groups that bring so
much to our community day to day.” Profits will
benefit New Hope Arts, Inc, the Greater New Hope Chamber
of Commerce, the Independent Merchants of New Hope,
and the Eagle Fire Company.
Tickets for each event are a nominal $20 per person
($15 for seniors 55 and older or students 17 and under.)
The festival is not recommended for children 5 and
under. Donations are always accepted. If you would
like to attend the event, participate in the event,
or if you just want more information, call Triumph
at 215-862-8300.
